In the slums of Nairobi, during the Coronavirus pandemic, the real emergency was not the virus itself, but the consequences related to the fear of the spreading of the virus, of lockdown and restrictive measures taken by the Kenyan government \u2013 still ongoing.\n\n\n<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

With the closure of schools, of the few commercial activities and the imposition of the curfew, families are recluse in their shacks, not being able to work and earn a few shellings to sustain themselves.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The impossibility to move within the town led to the collapse of the already miserable family incomes<\/b>, and the social tension has exploded after violent forms of control on behalf of the law enforcement.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Many families, still today, are not being able to eat for days.\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/p>

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Since March 2020, thanks to our donors and supporters, we have launched a Prevention Plan, the Coronavirus Prevention Plan, to reach from house to house families and children in lockdown, giving them food, medicine and checking their health with the help of a specialized nurse.<\/span><\/span><\/h3>

With food supply and medical care, we have helped 800 families, that is, 5000 people \u2013 of which 3000 children. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>

We monitor daily the conditions of other families in need in the slums of Korogocho and Dandora, to understand how many of them really need help<\/b>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Our main goal is to avoid these people to get severely ill due to the lack of food<\/b>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Around 3.5 million people live in the slums in Nairobi<\/strong>. Considering an average of 7 people per family, we are dealing with around 500.000 family units that need immediate help.
